FRENCH CERTIFICATES

The Test d’evaluation de Français  (Test of French Assessment) is a test of general French which assesses the level of proficiency in French of francophones and non-francophones alike.
 

The TEF is an internationally recognized test that measures your proficiency in French. TEF is a modular test that can be adjusted according to  your objectives and the steps you are taking.  The results are valid for two years.

TEF is recognized by many universities and schools, particularly in Canada, to certify your level of French as part of the admission process. We kindly advise you to enquire to the institution you wish to attend about the specific type of TEF you need to take.

The TEF assesses the candidate’s proficiency in French using a 7 level scale based on the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) and the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB). Written Comprehension, Oral Comprehension and Written Expression are evaluated in TEF QCM and Oral Expression in TEF Oral Expression. 

 The Test d’evaluation de Français adapté au Québec (TEFaq) is a test of general French which assesses the level of proficiency in French for oral comprehension and oral expression.The TEFaq is intended for adults (min. 16 years old) wishing to assess their skills in French and can be used for the purpose of immigration to the province of Québec (application for the Certificat de Sélection du Québec). TEFaq is recognized by the Ministry of Immigration and Cultural Communities of Québec (MICC) for immigration applications 

 For immigration and citizenship application procedures, the Federal Government of Canada requests proof of the applicants’ linguistic knowledge of French. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has recognized the TEF for these purposes since 2002. The TEF format that applies to these procedures is TEF Canada

They have recently teamed up with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris in order to promote French as a tool for professional communication. This platform has been adopted by hundreds of schools, including École Polytechnique, HEC Paris, IÉSEG-School of Management, and EDHEC-Business School.
